UDP Sohiong Circle has recommended the name of Synshar Lyngdoh to the party high command.
Informing this here on Wednesday, UDP East Khasi Hills district president, Titosstarwell Chyne said that he has received a letter from the UDP Sohiong Circle with the recommendation.
“I will place the recommendation of the UDP Sohiong Circle before the State Election Committee (of the party). The SEC will take a final decision on the allotment of the party ticket,” Chyne said.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is expected to announce the date of the election to Sohiong constituency shortly, he said.
HDR Lyngdoh first represented the constituency from 1988-1998. He won again in 2003 and subsequent polls till 2018 when he lost to Samlin Malngiang of the HSPDP.
