SHILLONG, March 4: In the wake of the protest called by a conglomerate of pressure groups outside Raj Bhavan on the day of the swearing in ceremony of CM delegate Conrad Sangma and other Cabinet ministers, the East Khasi Hills district administration has chalked out a plan to ensure that law and order is maintained and citizens are not affected.
The pressure groups have vehemently opposed the move of two HSPDP MLAs — Shakliar Warjri and Methodius Dkhar — to support the NPP in forming the government.
District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills, SC Sadhu, on Saturday said that the discussions have taken place with the district Superintendent of Police and all precautionary measures measures are being taken.
“We have sufficient forces to ensure law and order and at the same time, we are trying to reach out this people to ensure that there is no disturbance,” the District Magistrate said.
The district administration has already requested extension of CAPF personnel who were deployed here to ensure peaceful elections, while seven more companies of the force will arrive.
It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah besides other leaders are also expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday.
