Witnesses urged to depose before officer

NONGSTOIN, March 5: The inquiry officer probing the cause of the death of a person in post-poll violence at Mairang, Eastern West Khasi Hills, has asked any person with knowledge of the incident and willing to give witness statement or any other information about the incident to come and depose before the officer.
An inquiry was instituted into ascertaining the cause of the death of a person found lying on NH 44E on the night of March 2, whose identity was later confirmed as Aiban Khymdeit (35), resident of Pyndengumiong, Mairang.
The inquiry officer, V. A. Hynniewta, Additional District Magistrate, EWKH, has asked deposers to approach her office in the premises of the office of the Deputy Commissioner in Mairang for recording their statements in the matter between 11 am and 3 pm during any of the working days on or before March 14.
