Shillong, March 13: India confirmed its berth in the World Test Championship (WTC) final that will be played in London in June as Sri Lanka lost the race to reach the final.
It was a long suspense for Indian fans to know if India would qualify for the WTC final or not. It is for the second consecutive time that India has qualified for the WTC final. The news has come as a relief for the Indian fans even as the country was playing its final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Ahmedabad
India qualified for the WTC finals as Sri Lanka which was also in contention for the summit clash, lost the first of their 2-Test series in New Zealand. Australia has already made it to the finals and it was only India and Sri Lanka which were in the race for the WTC final.
The WTC final will be played between India and Australia at the Oval in London from June 7 to 11. Australia qualified for the final after winning the 3rd Test against India in Indore earlier in the month.
India qualified for the WTC final in 2021 and lost to New Zealand.
