SCL: Div 1: Nongthymmai win thriller against Matri Sangha

SHILLONG, March 14: In the 1st division match between Matri Sangha sc and Nongthymmai scc, Matri Sangha won the toss and chose to field first. Nongthymmai were bowled out for 141/10 in 32.3 overs. Shyam S Pachar scored a half century off 66 balls and was the highest run getter for Nongthymmai. Himlal Chettri scored 20 off 29. Among the Matri Sangha bowlers, Ravi Sunar picked up 3 wickets for 18 runs only in 5.3 overs. Kishor Bhowmick picked up 2 for 21 in 7 overs. In reply Matri sangha were bowled out for 132/10 in 32.2 overs. Kishor Bhowmik top scored with 24 off 28 and Soumyadeep Dey also scored 24 off 40. For the Nongthymmai bowlers, Ranjeet K Rai grabbed 3 wickets in 6.2 overs for 18 runs. Ram Najjar took 3 for 35 in 7. Nongthymmai won the game by 9 runs and Shyam S Pachar was awarded the man of the match.

Man gets 3-year ban for racially abusing Toney
NEWCASTLE, March 14: A man who racially abused Brentford striker Ivan Toney on social media has been banned from every football stadium in Britain for three years in what police described Tuesday as a “landmark ruling.”Antonio Neill sent a racist message to Toney on his Instagram account after the striker scored two goals against Brighton in a Premier League match on Oct. 14.Police started an investigation after Toney shared a picture of the abuse and the message was traced to the 24-year-old Neill, who lives in Blyth, a town in northern England.Neill appeared in a magistrates’ court in Newcastle on Jan. 25 and pleaded guilty. Salah’s Cairo villa burgled
CAIRO, March 14: The luxury Cairo villa of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah was burgled over the weekend.Two police officials told on Monday the burglars stole only cable TV receivers from the winger’s villa in the upmarket Tagamoa area,.A cooking gas cylinder in the Liverpool player’s garden proved too heavy for the burglars to steal, the officials said. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak with the media.Authorities were first called to the house after a close family member noticed on Saturday evening that one of the windows was open, the officials said.An investigation into the robbery is ongoing and no arrests have yet been made. Ri-Bhoi tie SCA-A in thriller

Shillong, March 14: The opening match of the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s U-15 Inter District Cricket Tournament 2023 ended in a sensational tie between Ri-Bhoi and Shillong Cricket Association-A at Umbuda, Ri-Bhoi, on Tuesday. On the first day, Ri-Bhoi were dismissed for 107 in their first innings to which SCA-A responded with 66. Ri-Bhoi then made 135 all out, leaving SCA-A a target of 177 to win on Tuesday. They got off to a good start with a 49-run first wicket partnership between Samelawan S Nongkseh (13) and Rudra S Rathor. With the dismissal of the former, Rathor carried on with Krishiv Chaudhary in a partnership of 58 for the second wicket. However, Rathor was out for a well-made 47. Chaudhary carried on but lost his partners at regular intervals and he was stranded on 78 not out as his team were all out for 176 in 48.3 overs, tying them with Ri-Bhoi. Sanjay Sawkuta produced a brilliant spell of bowling to take 6/25, while Gaurav Narleng claimed 2/14. Sawkuta had also made a half-century in Ri-Bhoi’s second innings, making him an all-round performer in the match.
