SHILLONG, March 14: The Meghalaya Trinamool Congress on Tuesday cautioned the Assam government against making baseless claims such as “Mukroh belongs to them” and said such statements would disrupt the peaceful settlement of the border dispute between the people of Assam and Meghalaya.
“We condemn this attempt to destroy historical and political facts over land belonging to Meghalaya,” TMC vice president George B Lyngdoh said.
“We utterly reject the claim and will never allow our land to be claimed by Assam,” Lyngdoh said, adding: “We also appeal to the BJP in Meghalaya to work in the interest of the people of Meghalaya and not succumb to their political masters in Guwahati.”
