TURA, March 16: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Tembe on Thursday urged one and all, especially the youths, to imbibe the spirit of patriotism and walk on the path shown by the freedom fighters when it comes to the issues of national interest.
Tembe was addressing a gathering as the chief guest at the inaugural programme of the two-day photo-cum-weapon exhibition, organised by the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
During the programme, which was organised in Tura, the DC recalled the supreme sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and reminded the gathering to have a sense of responsibility towards and abide by the Fundamental Duties while enjoying one’s Fundamental Rights.
Describing India as a vibrant and largest democracy in the world, he pointed out that every other nation today looks up to India as a global leader and seeks suggestions for solutions on various social, cultural, economical and political issues afflicting the world today.
“They are in awe and look upon India with respect because of our successful running and functioning of various democratic institutions like Judiciary, Parliament and Election Commission of India,” the DC added.
Earlier, Tembe inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of Commandant, BSF CO 100, Jengjal, Ajai Tiwari, government officials, teachers of Tura Government College as well as students from the town.
