International researchers take part in NEHU’s conference

SHILLONG, March 19: As many as 100 researchers from across the globe participated in the 4th IEEE-cosponsored International Conference on Computing and Communication Systems organised by the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU).
During the conference, researchers presented the advancements in areas like Communication Technologies, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science and Blockchain.
As part of the conference, an industry-academia interactive session was also conducted, which presented an in-depth discussion on knowledge and skills imparted to engineering students by academic institutions, expectations of the industries from the engineering pass-outs, analysed the gap, and followed a possible roadmap to mitigate it.
A special focus was given to the perspective of Northeast.
It was resolved that closer association of academia and industry will help in improving the employment scenario of the country.
Keynote talks were delivered by world-class scientists like Prof Sankar Kumar Pal, Prof Vincenzo Piuri, University of Milan, Italy, Prof Shaik Anowarul Fattah, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Bangladesh and Prof Celia Shahnaz, IEEE-WIE Global Chair.
Two pre-conference workshops on Virtual Reality App Development and Cloud Computing were successfully conducted. The Virtual Reality Application Development workshop was conducted by Dr Jeyaprakash Chelladurai, Assistant Professor, East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, United States.
Certificates and prizes were given during the valedictory function.
The three best papers were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
