Shillong, March 23: West Jaintia Hills District Cricket Association and East Khasi Hills Cricket Association won their respective matches of the U-14 Girls Inter District Cricket T20 Tournament 2023 in Nongstoin on Thursday.
West Jaintia Hills were involved in a very close contest with West Khasi Hills DCA, winning the match by just nine runs.
Put into bat first, West Jaintia Hills made 146/8 in their 20 overs, with Anastesia S Shullai top-scoring with 41 and Sawakahi Syngkon making 19.
At one stage West Jaintia Hills were 92/2 but Adelia Fedelia Lyngkhoi claimed 2/13 with the ball and effected four run outs to peg them back.
Lyngkhoi was the star with the bat as well, making an unbeaten 43.
However, Syngkon bagged 4/10 and Alvarine S Shullai 2/28 as West Khasi Hills were restricted to 137/7. Syngkon was named Player of the Match.
In the other match, Shillong Cricket Association were made to bat first by East Khasi Hills Cricket Association and were dismissed for 86 in 16.4 overs. Three batters reached double figures but the top score was 15 by Leeny Rai.
Habandarisha Shangpliang claimed 3/29, with Lawaijanai Synnah (2/14) and Eliza Lyngdoh (2/28) taking a brace each.
East Khasi Hills Cricket Association did not have too much difficulty in the chase, knocking off the required runs with eight wickets in hand and exactly 8 overs to spare.
Sharaisuk Marpna top-scored with 26 not out, carrying her bat through the innings. Shangpliang was adjudged the Player of the Match.
