Man in judicial custody on charge of raping minor niece

SHILLONG, April 2: A local court in Nongpoh remanded a man in judicial custody on charge of raping his 16-year-old niece.
Ri Bhoi Superintendent of Police, Giri Prasad M. on Sunday said a case was reported on March 30 against the accused for sexually assaulting his niece and threatening to kill her.
Nongpoh police registered a case under various sections of the POCSO Act, 2012 along with Section 506 IPC.
A medical test of the victim was conducted on March 31 and reports confirmed that the girl was two months’ pregnant.
The survivor’s family has demanded life imprisonment for the accused.
