Three held for harassing tourists

SHILLONG, April 6: Shillong police has arrested three members of Hynniewtrep A’chik National Movement (HANM) for threatening tourists who had put up at a city guest house.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said that on the morning of April 3, around 9 am, some members of the HANM went to Miracle Spring View Guest House located at Mawdiangdiang and threatened some tourists there.
The group of tourists had come for a two-day visit to Meghalaya to visit some religious sites and also for sightseeing.
“The HANM members threatened the owner of the guest house with dire consequences which had caused fear and consternation to the owners of the guest house and tourists. In this regard, a case was registered at Rynjah police station u/s 506/342/34 IPC and on Thursday, three accused have been arrested,” a statement from the police said.
Police have warned anyone against taking the law into their hands by disrupting the visit of tourists to the state.
