Shillong, April 10: After backlash to a video showing the Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama kissing a kid, he has apologised.

The Dalai Lama has apologised after a video of him kissing a child and telling him to “suck his tongue” generated uproar on social media Sunday.

The statement including the apology was posted on the official Twitter handle of office of the 14th Dalai Lama.

The statement read, “A video clip has been circulating that shows a recent meeting when a young boy asked His Holiness the Dalai Lama if he could give him a hug. His Holiness wishes to apologise to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused.
