Shillong, April 11: Beginning his day-long fast at Shaheed Samark in Jaipur, Sachin Pilot demanded action on alleged corruption during the former BJP administration of the state.
The Congress had issued a warning to Sachin Pilot late on Monday evening stating that he should avoid any activity which goes against the party.
Pilot will continue his day-long fast on Tuesday, according to sources close to him, in an effort to urge for action against corruption under the previous BJP government in Rajasthan.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of the state Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa expressed strong opposition to the protest by Pilot, had on Monday said that any such protest against the government obviously amounts to anti-party behaviour and goes against the party’s interest.
On Sunday, Pilot said that the Ashok Gehlot-led administration had ignored allegations of corruption that had allegedly occurred in Rajasthan while the BJP was in power. He also declared his intention to fast for the entire day on April 11 to demand action.
In the midst of the factional battle, Pilot decided to create a new front against Gehlot in an effort to put pressure on the party’s top command to settle the leadership dispute before the year-end elections.
