Shillong, April 13: In their Wednesday Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 encounter against Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) came close to a miraculous victory.

Although MS Dhoni, the captain of CSK, remained unbeaten until the very end, he was unable to send the ball to the boundary when he needed 5 runs to win the game. As a result, Rajasthan won by a score of 3 runs. Dhoni is reportedly recovering from a knee injury, according to CSK coach Stephen Fleming, who made the announcement following the game.

Particularly when facing spinners, Dhoni appeared to be in flawless form as he delivered some of his signature sixes. With the help of one boundary and three sixes, Dhoni hit 32 off just 17 balls, forging an important partnership with Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 25 off 15 balls.

Dhoni was able to knock two sixes in the final over he bowled against Sandeep Sharma, requiring 21 runs off the final 6 balls, but Sandeep came back to give his team a 3-run victory.

Regarding Dhoni, Fleming said that despite having a knee injury, the team captain still managed to perform some amazing feats in the middle.

“Dhoni is recovering from a knee injury, as evidenced by some of his motions. He is somewhat hampered by it. His fitness has always been of the highest calibre. He arrives a month before the competition begins. He is a superb athlete. We’ve never questioned him”, Fleming said.

Although Dhoni’s injury has been confirmed, Fleming didn’t suggest that it might prevent Dhoni from participating in the forthcoming games for CSK.

Fleming said that Chennai will also be without bowler Sisanda Magala for a few weeks.
