NONGPOH, April 17: Peeved at the daytime power cuts, the KSU, Nongpoh circle, has demanded that the load-shedding in the district should occur only at night-time.
The members of the KSU on Monday called on the Executive Engineer of the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL), seeking an explanation as to why electricity was being shut down without a proper timing in the district, which, they said, is causing difficulties to the people.
According to the KSU, the frequent shutdowns of electricity during morning, daytime, and evening have badly affected the offices, students, entrepreneurs, et al.
KSU Nongpoh Circle general secretary, Baiashanlang Kharshanlor, said that the shutdown of electricity should only occur during night-time and not during the day when people need it the most.
The KSU also conducted an inspection at Mawdaron in Saiden village after receiving complaints from the locals about the rusting of electric posts.
The union also demanded that the electric posts should be replaced immediately as they pose a threat to the lives of the residents.
Meanwhile, Kharshanlor has informed the media persons that the Executive Engineer of the MePDCL Nongpoh Division, has assured of taking necessary actions on the grievances raised by the KSU.
