Shillong, April 20: Anurag Maloo, an Indian climber who was missing since Monday after plunging into a deep crevasse on Mount Annapurna in Nepal, has been found alive and in critical condition, according to his brother.

Anurag Maloo, an accomplished climber and 34-year-old businessman from India, went missing on Monday. Maloo was returning from Camp IV when he slid into a crevasse beneath Camp III. The tenth-highest peak in the world is named Mount Annapurna.

“He was discovered alive. Despite being in critical condition when he was transported to the hospital, he is still alive. Now, we must turn our attention to the medical aspect,” his brother Sudhir stated.

Maloo was given the REX Karamveer Chakra and is a native of Kishangarh, Rajasthan. On his LinkedIn site, he describes himself as a “Mountain-preneur” and lists his current positions at Seedstars as Regional Director (Asia-Pacific) and VP. Maloo is a skilled climber who conquered Mount Ama Dablam the previous year and had ambitions to conquer Mount Everest, Annapurna, and Lhotse in Nepal this year.

Maloo is on a mission to conquer all 14 peaks higher than 8,000 metres, as well as the seven highest summits on each of the seven continents, in order to raise awareness of the UN Global Goals and inspire action.
