Shillong, April 20: Jammu and Kashmir government swung into action when a video of a class 3 girl asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide basic amenities at her school went viral. The authorities started renovation work at the school.
Seerat Naaz made a video pleading with PM Modi to take necessary action to improve the crumbling structure of her school. After the media went viral, it reached the officials.
Ravi Shankar Sharma, the director of school education in Jammu, went to the government school in the isolated Lohai-Malhar block.
“Modi ji, mujhe na aap se ek baat kehni hain (Modi ji, there is something I need to tell you.),” said the girl in the video.
“You listen to the entire nation, please listen to me as well and build a nice school for us so that we can continue our education and not get scolded by our mothers for getting our uniforms dirty,” the girl said to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ravi Shankar Sharma informed, “A project worth Rs 91 lakh was sanctioned to upgrade the school on modern lines, but the work was stalled due to some issue related to administrative approval. It has now been sorted out, and the work is underway”.
Naaz, who aspires to be an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, expressed her happiness, saying she was glad that her video helped her school to get a facelift.
