Another batch of Himalayan vultures spotted in EJH

JOWAI, April 27: Another batch of Himalayan vultures has arrived at Wapung Chnong, East Jaintia Hills recently.
Sources from the Wildlife Division of the Forest and Environment department on Thursday informed that biologists from Shillong have arrived to investigate the migration of these vultures to the area.
Informing that the vultures were migrating from one place to another and they had arrived here on April 16, they said that the vultures may have halted there as carcasses of cattle were found in the area.
It may be recalled that Himalayan vultures were earlier spotted near the Jowai-Dawki main road at Lad Demthring.
The Himalayan vultures were spotted near a slaughterhouse along the Jowai-Dawki main road on April 18.
A local meat vendor had informed that some of these vultures had even tried to steal meat from the nearby stalls.
