Seng Khasi College, Shillong College win singing competition

SHILLONG, May 6: Seng Khasi College and Shillong College on Saturday emerged victorious at an inter-college singing competition under solo and group categories respectively.
According to a statement here, the competition was organised as part of Seng Khasi College’s golden jubilee celebration and was participated by St. Anthony’s College, St. Edmund’s College, St. Mary’s College, Shillong Commerce College, Shillong College, BBS College, MLCU, Mawlai Presbyterian College, Umshyrpi College, Women’s College, Lady Keane College and Seng Khasi College.
The programme was attended by noted Khasi folk musician Silbi Passah as the chief guest.
The judges for the competition, on the other hand, were acclaimed musicians of Meghalaya, viz. Rudy Wallang, Hubert Malngiang and Adoryllene Sawian.
In the solo category, Lurshai Nongrang of Seng Khasi College bagged the first prize, while the second and third prizes were secured by Venetia Warshong of St. Anthony’s College and Sweety Mary Lyngba of St. Mary’s College respectively.
In the group category, Shillong College won the first prize, while the second and third prizes were secured by St. Edmund’s College and St. Mary’s College respectively.
