EGH DC bans use of select firecrackers

WILLIAMNAGAR, May 7: East Garo Hills District Magistrate Vibhor Aggarwal has prohibited the manufacture, sale and use or bursting of select categories of firecrackers in the district.
In the order, the DC, however, allowed the use of reduced emission firecrackers or improved crackers, use of green crackers or Safe Water and Air Sprinklers (SWAS) with low emission sound and light-emitting functional crackers.
The order also said that prior permission will have to be obtained from the district magistrate for use of crackers for a limited period during specified festivals and warned the violators that penalty will be imposed as per the directions of the NGT.
