Verify if wages credited, group tells dist heads

TURA, May 9: The A’chik Organization for Social Welfare (AOSW) has urged district authorities in Garo Hills to verify whether the wages of the MGNREGS job card holder are credited through the zero balance bank accounts in post offices or otherwise.
“The wages for completed work under MGNREGS are usually disbursed by the concerned Block officers. But we have learnt that this is not happening at present, and wages for completed work are yet to be credited to their accounts,” the organisation claimed adding, the workers deserve being paid for their work.
Stating that visits by villagers to authorities of post offices have failed to provide a satisfactory reply, the organisation urged heads of districts to verify the same with block officers (BDOs) to ease any confusion among the job card holders.
