Flights resume at Leh airport after technical glitch with IAF cargo plane

Shillong, May 17: The Leh airport authorities confirmed on Wednesday that all commercial flights into and out of the airport will run according to schedule, as the runway was open for aircraft operations.

The news came after a number of flights to and from the Leh airport were cancelled on Tuesday due to a technical issue with an Indian Air Force cargo plane.

At 2:30 am on Wednesday, the runway was cleared after the aircraft’s problem was fixed.

The plane was reportedly held at Leh Airport for several hours on Tuesday, which caused flights at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee airport to be cancelled.

Officials from the Indian Air Force verified the problem, saying that the C-17 Globemaster was having serviceability problems.

Leh airport tweeted, “With the continuous efforts of concerned agencies, it is informed that RWY is now available for operations of Aircrafts. Hence, all commercial flights will be operating on 17.05.2023 as per schedule,” Leh airport tweeted.
