3-day Amrit Yuva Kalotsav gets under way in Shillong

SHILLONG, May 19: In conjunction with the celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence, Governor Phagu Chauhan on Friday inaugurated the eighth edition of ‘Amrit Yuva Kalotsav’ — a festival of music, dance and drama, which will be held at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong, till Sunday.
According to a statement here, the three-day festival is being organised by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Arts and Culture department with an aim to preserve and promote the diverse performing arts of India.
Addressing the inaugural programme, the Governor appreciated that during the three-day programme, artists from across India will give expression to their cultural heritage through different art forms.
