Locals, groups allege shoddy probe into illegal appointment of teacher
TURA, May 26: Local leaders and groups from Dadenggre, who had been opposing the alleged illegal appointment of a schoolteacher at Gasbari Non-Government LP School from the area, have now alleged that the inquiry into the charges, which was recently ordered by the DSEL, is being carried out shoddily. The opposing groups, while condemning the improper conduct of the probe, have shot off a fresh complaint in this regard to the DSEL in Shillong. According to the complainants, an inquiry was conducted on May 24 by the SDSEO, Dadenggre, at the office of the Block Mission Coordinator, Selsella, without any information or making them a part of it. “We the villagers of Gasbari object to such kind of inquiry which was conducted with mala fide intention outside of the Gasbari Non-Government LP School and thereby we demand a fresh inquiry in the school premises in the presence of the of the gaonbura, VEC secretaries, NGOs, complainants and villagers of Gasbari,” the complainants said in their letter. Stating that the people had lost faith in the current Dadenggre SDSEO for a free and fair probe, they urged DSEL to hand over the inquiry to some other education official.

In the RTI, the AOSW had sought information on the present status of the Centre of Excellence for Citrus project at Dawagre under the North Eastern Council (NEC). According to the AOSW, the RTI reply from the department had said, “Due to technical issues, the project is yet to be approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MIDH, Horticulture Division). The final requirements as stated by the Director (MIDH) have been sent and the response from the concerned authority is yet to be received.” Meanwhile, a reply to another RTI, seeking information on why some poly house structures at the site were dismantled was contradictory in nature. “As Dawagre Farm, Centre of Excellence for Citrus is soon to be set up, the standing polly house structures have to be removed for land development and to construct new structures and lay out for the mother Blocks as per the proposed action plan,” the reply had stated.
