SHILLONG, May 26: In what is being dubbed as its first, the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on Friday celebrated its University Day by inviting the Rangbah Shnong of Mawkynroh — the village where NEHU is nestled — to connect with the locals.
The headman was the chief guest of the occasion.
In his speech, Rangbah Shnong of Mawkynroh Longshai Nongkhlaw said that for over 50 years, the university has matured into an institution with serious academic, social and cultural agenda with a clear vision for growth, and attracted persons of proven excellence to serve as faculty as well students from across the nation.
He also motivated the students to work for a better future.
Addressing the gathering, NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof PS Shukla, on the other hand, thanked the founding members of the University as well as the administration staff
On the day, presidents of NEHUTA, NEHUNSA and NEHUSU also gave speeches.
