TURA, June 6: BJP MDC in the GHADC from Tura, Bernard N Marak on Tuesday sought the revocation of the permission for holding the ongoing Mela at the Police Parade Ground in Tura which he claimed, is being organised illegally without a trade licence from the district council.
The Tura MDC, in his complaint to the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Jagadish Chellani on the same day, urged that the same be verified.
“Kindly verify if the organisers obtained a trade licence to organise this mela. I was informed that outsiders are organising the mela without a proper trade licence from the GHADC, which is illegal and violates the constitutional provisions of the Sixth Schedule,” Bernard said in his complaint, while adding that loud music being played till late at night at the mela is affecting the citizens, especially students who are preparing for CUET.
Pointing out that local businessmen, who are doing business legally by obtaining a trade licence and paying tax to the government, are being badly affected by the mela, he urged the DC to verify the documents and accordingly take action.
