Shillong, June 13: In a gesture of goodwill, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has dispatched a consignment of 600 kg of mangoes as a gift to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, according to officials.

The mangoes, including the popular ‘Himsagar’ and ‘Langra’ varieties, are part of diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties between the two regions. This is not the first time such a gift has been sent, as last year, a similar consignment of mangoes was sent to Banerjee.

Additionally, Prime Minister Hasina has extended this gesture to all the chief ministers of the northeastern states as well. Last year, she sent mangoes as gifts to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the chief ministers of West Bengal, Tripura, and Assam. This act of sending mangoes serves as a symbol of goodwill and friendship between Bangladesh and the recipient states.
