EKH teacher awarded for thesis on free edn for underprivileged

SHILLONG, June 22: A teacher of the Seiñ Jaiñtia Morning Secondary School, Shillong, Dr. Amanda Pakyntein, was recently conferred with the ‘Best Woman Guru Award’ during the 4th International Inspirational Women Awards (IIWA), 2023, which was held at Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Dr Pynkyntein was awarded for her thesis on free education for the underprivileged children. She, in her thesis, had cited the example of the morning school where she is teaching.
Dr Pynkyntein, who is the wife of NPP MLA Banteidor Lyngdoh, has been associated with the school since it was established in 2008, and since 2012, she has been teaching in the morning school without any salary.
She was awarded a PhD degree from the Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya, on May 27, 2022.
It may be mentioned that the 4th IIWA ceremony was organised by GISR Foundation to recognise women of exceptional calibre and outstanding performance across the world.
