Shillong, June 26: Automobile company Honda has announced a recall of approximately 1.2 million vehicles in the US due to a rearview camera problem that may cause the image to fail on the dashboard screen.
The recall includes certain Odyssey minivans from 2018 to 2023, Pilot SUVs from 2019 to 2022, and Passport SUVs from 2019 to 2023, according to Fox Business.
Honda has attributed the issue to a defective coaxial cable connector, as stated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The lack of a rearview camera image could hinder driver visibility and increase the risk of a collision, the US regulator warned.
Although no injuries have been reported, Honda has received nearly 274,000 warranty claims between May 2017 and June 8 related to this issue.
Starting from July 24, affected owners will be notified by letter that a cable harness replacement and a straightening cover will be installed at no cost, as outlined in the report.
In a separate recall incident earlier this month, Ford Motor recalled over 125,000 Escape SUVs, Maverick pickups, and Lincoln Corsair luxury SUVs due to potential engine fluid leaks and fire risks. The vehicles being recalled are hybrid or plug-in hybrid versions, and the recall was prompted by a manufacturing problem that could result in engine oil or gasoline vapor leaks, posing a fire hazard when exposed to hot engine components.
