Shillong, July 5: Pravesh Shukla, the man captured on camera urinating on a tribal labourer, has been arrested during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. The incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district, and the video went viral, prompting widespread demands for action against Shukla.

The police managed to obtain the video on Tuesday, six days after the incident took place. According to a senior police official, Pravesh Shukla has been apprehended and is currently being interrogated. An FIR has been registered against him under Sections 294 (Obscene acts) and 504 (Intentional insult to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as under the SC/ST Act.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, responding to the viral video, has directed authorities to charge Shukla under the National Security Act. Singh Chouhan emphasized that the government will ensure the “sternest possible punishment” for the perpetrator to set an example. He added, “We will not spare him (culprit) at any cost.”
