Nongstoin, July 20: Concerned over the absence of a BDO and staff at the Nonglang Community and Rural Development (C&RD) Block in West Khasi Hills, the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Ri Muliang circle on Thursday called for the immediate intervention of the State Government to appoint the concerned official and also demand the district administration to depute staff at the concerned department.

The KSU during the inspection carried out today found that till 2: PM there was no staff in the office.

Biangboy Sangriang, President of the KSU Ri Muliang Circle said that since the inauguration of the C&RD Block, there has not been a full- fledged BDO and a staff who would attend the office during office hours.

Stressing on the urgency of the matter, the KSU said that the local people faced hardship while pursuing various official works at the C&RD Block office due to the absence of a full-fledged BDO resulting in delay in several developmental initiatives in the area.

The absence of BDO and staff has caused lots of hardship to the people of the area and the inauguration of C&RD Block is not helping the cause of the people, the KSU said, alleging that the office was not functioning properly.

The KSU also approached the DC and the state government to intervene in the matter.

Villagers also complain about the absence of BDO and staff in the Nonglang C&RD Block Office.
