SHILLONG, July 26: The KSU on Wednesday filed an FIR against the administrator(s) of a twitter account — Legal Rights Observatory-LRO@LRO for tagging the student’s body as goons and blaming them for the attacked at Mahadev Khola, 101 Area, Lower Lawsohtun, on Monday afternoon.
“We can see them assaulting priests, women devotees including family of priests…Will Pres Church stop hate mongering,” the LRO tweet reads.
In its FIR, KSU’s legal affairs secretary, James H. Mawphniang said the incident had no connection with the Union nor in any manner had its member been involved in the case.
“The object of this twitter account and the person(s) handling the account is only to disrupt the religious harmony and to instigate communal violence between communities,” Mawphniang said.
According to the KSU leader, any twitter account that spreads hate mongering and feeds false information to the public should be suspended/ deleted.
“They are defaming the KSU for the instant case,” he said.
KSU general secretary, Donald V. Thabah said a tweet from this account had earlier questioned the need to put a Bible in the rooms of the patients in some city hospitals.
The same account had tweeted against the KSU during the anti-CAA protests, he said.
“Now they are trying to play the religious lines by alleging the KSU to be affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. I want to clarify that we are not associated with the Presbyterian Church or the Catholic Church or the Seng Khasi or Seng Raij,” he said.
The KSU general secretary said this is an attempt to create a conflict between Christians and Hindus and added that such propaganda will get prominence in mainland India.
Thabah said the KSU has already lodged a complaint with the District Forest Officer to evict illegal settlers from Mahadev Khola.
According to him, the area is unsafe due to the presence of illegal settlers.
