NONGSTOIN, Aug 2: The FKJGP Nongstoin Circle has asked the state government to expedite the construction of Phodthre bridge, which has been hanging fire for two decades.
Vice president of FKJGP Nongstoin Circle, Ananstar Peinlang, along with other members of the organisation, on Wednesday, carried out an inspection of the Phothre bridge and road in Upper New Nongstoin from Nonbah to DTO junction, which has turned from bad to worse.
Peinlang said that the dilapidated road from Nonbah to DTO junction was not included in the intermediate lanes which connect from Nongstoin to Wahkaji.
The FKJGP has demanded the PWD to sanction the aforementioned road for the good of the people of Upper New Nongstoin and Nongstoin in particular.
The Phothra bridge, the FKJGP said, was sanctioned in 2003 by the PWD but unfortunately it stands with only one pillar.
According to the FKJGP, the bridge, which lies in the heart of Nongstoin town, plays a vital role in connecting Upper New Nongstoin, Tiehsaw, Mawrusyiar and New Nongstoin villages, and particularly reduce traffic jams in the town area.
