Shillong, August 8: The co-founder and CEO of the online furniture store Pepperfry, Ambareesh Murthy, has passed away at the age of 51 due to cardiac arrest in Leh. The somber news was shared by fellow co-founder Ashish Shah through a tweet on Tuesday.
Shah’s tweet conveyed the heart-wrenching news: “Extremely devastated to inform that my friend, mentor, brother, soulmate @AmbareeshMurty is no more. Lost him yesterday night to a cardiac arrest at Leh. Please pray for him and for strength to his family and near ones.”
As per IANS, tributes and condolences flooded Twitter following the news of Murthy’s untimely demise. One user expressed their grief and respect, remembering Murthy’s mentorship: “Very sad my second boss and what a mentor he was … I messaged him two days back and he was okay. Got him added to PruICICI group where a reunion is getting planned.”
Another user paid homage to Murthy’s entrepreneurial spirit and legacy: “So sad & shocking to hear of Ambareesh Murty’s sudden demise due to cardiac arrest. May his soul rest in peace. An amazing entrepreneur & inspiration to many… may his legacy with Pepperfry live on. RIP.”
Ambareesh Murthy’s illustrious career began at Cadbury, where he served in Sales and Marketing roles for over five years. He then ventured into the financial sector, contributing his expertise to Prudential ICICI AMC (now ICICI Prudential).
Murthy’s entrepreneurial journey began to take shape during his time at Levi’s, leading him to establish his own venture, Origin Resources, aimed at assisting Indian mutual fund companies. After several other impactful roles, he co-founded Pepperfry in 2011 alongside Ashish Shah.
