USTM may get Ayurvedic College

NEW DELHI, Aug 9: Union Minister for AYUSH, Sarbanda Sonowal on Wednesday assured the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) of favourably considering an Aurvedic college to be set up within the varsity.
This was told to the USTM Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr) GD Sharma, Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque and Prof (Dr) AK Mahanta, all of USTM, who called on him here on Wednesday. When it comes into effect, the Aurvedic College will be first in Meghalaya and the only one in entire Northeast, the VC said after the meeting.
The delegation also sought Sonowal’s help as a representative from the region to expedite establishing a medical college by the USTM.
Later, top educationists had a meeting with the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment and impressed upon him to provide adequate scholarship to students belonging to SC and disadvantaged category.
