10 yrs of jail for one, acquittal for another in sexual assault case

NONGSTOIN, Aug 23: A special court in West Khasi Hills found one Sheldar Syiemlieh guilty in the case of sexual assault of a minor girl, while exonerating the second accused, Richard Kharbani, of the charges.
On appreciation of all evidences uncovered in the investigation, the Court of Special Judge (POCSO), Nongstoin, sentenced Syiemlieh to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 20,000.
Earlier, an FIR in connection with the case had mentioned that the minor was sexually assaulted by Richard Kharbani and Sheldar Syiemlieh, according to a statement.
