The Archies set for December release
Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming directorial The Archies has been locked for a release on December 7 on Netflix. It stars Dot, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Mihir Ahuja, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina and Yuvraj Menda. The Archies, a coming-of-age musical film, follows the lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel and Dilton who will take audiences to the fictional hilly town of Riverdale. Seen through the lens of the unique Anglo-Indian community, The Archies, which is set in the 1960s, explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak and rebellion. The cast, many of whom are debuting in their first film, announced the date of launch along with their director, Zoya Akhtar with a live billboard on one of India’s busiest roads – Mumbai’s Western Express Highway on Tuesday morning. HBO pulls plug on The Idol after first season
American network HBO has cancelled The Idol, starring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, after just one season. The five-episode series, created by Sam Levinson, Abel The Weeknd Tesfaye and Reza Fahim, had debuted in June this year amidst multiple controversies and negative reviews. “The Idol was one of HBO’s most provocative original programs, and we’re pleased by the strong audience response. After much thought and consideration, HBO, as well as the creators and producers, have decided not to move forward with a second season. “We’re grateful to the creators, cast, and crew for their incredible work,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement to entertainment website Variety. According to the news outlet, the network decided to cancel the show as both audiences and cast members were conflicted about its “potential to continue”. The show, about a female pop singer who starts a romance with an enigmatic LA club owner, was hit by controversies right from the start. (IANS)

 

BTS label Hybe looking for new global K-pop girl group
The leading K-pop label Hybe, best known for launching the K-pop idols BTS along with Geffen Records, is looking for a new global K-pop girl group for a new planned documentary-series/docu-series. According to ‘Deadline’, for this initiative, Hybe has teamed up with the American company Geffen Records, the very label behind rock legends Nirvana and Sonic Youth, in 2021 to create a new US girl group using its K-pop training and development system. That initiative, which was subsequently titled as ‘Hybe x Geffen Global Girl Group Audition’, ended up getting more than 120,000 submissions from young women around the world and has now been whittled down to 20 contestants competing for a spot in the group. Adele reveals plans to have children with fiance Rich Paul
English pop star Adele has revealed that she has already planned to have children with her fiance Rich Paul, hoping to start a family together soon, admitting that she has already chosen a number of names for their unborn baby. The singer, who shares 10-year-old son Angelo with her ex-husband Simon Koncecki – said she and fiancé Rich Paul plan to have a baby together very “soon”. Adele shared her hopes of expanding her family as she stopped the show to speak to a pregnant fan who was having difficulty choosing a name for her unborn child. Adele gushed over the pregnant woman as she told her that she often writes down baby names on her notes app on her phone amid hopes of having another child soon. (IANS)
