10th North East Shooting Championship concludes

SHILLONG, Aug 30: The Northeast shootong championships which began on the 20th of August 2023 concluded here on Wednesday at the Precision Indoor Range of the Assam Regimental center, Happy Valley, Shillong. The event was organised by the Shooting Association of Meghalaya in collboration with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya and The Northe Eastern Council. Assam emerged as the overall champion and topped the table with 27 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze.Mizoram secured second with 18 gold, 10 silver and 9 bronze followed by A ssam Rifles Marksmen Unit with 12 gold 8 silver and 9 bronze.Meghalaya secured 3 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals. Manipur secured 10 silver and 7 bronze while Nagaland secured 6 silver 3 bronze. The Army marsmen unit secured 6 gold, 4 silver 1 bronze. The chief guest for the event was Peter JP Hanaman, former DGP and member of the Human Rights Commision. The guest of Honour was Col. BS Rawat, Deputy Commandant, Assam Regimental Center.

 

Results form NEHU inter-college football tourney

SHILLONG, Aug 30: The results of the NEHU inter college football tournament semifinal matches played on the 30th of August 2023 are: 1st Semifinal- St. Anthony’s College, Shillong defeated Seng Khasi College, Shillong by 3-1.2nd Semi Final- Shillong College defeated Edmund’s College, Shillong by 6-. The finals of the tournament will be held on the 31st of August 2023 at 10 am between Shillong College and St. Anthony’s College, Shillong.

 

PT Usha to contest for Commonwealth VP’s post
CHENNAI, Aug 30: Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha will take a step further as an administrator as she will be contesting the upcoming Commonwealth Games Federation elections for the post of vice-president.On Wednesday, the CGF announced the list of candidates shortlisted for the upcoming polls that will elect candidates for the posts of president, vice-president, regional VPs and sports committee members.Usha will be contesting alongside Hugh Graham of Cook Islands, Barry Hendricks (South Africa), Sandra Osborne (Barbados), Richard Powers (Canada), Ian Reid (Scotland) and Dr Donald Rukare (Uganda). Usha was appointed as the IOA president last December unopposed, while she also happens to be the committee head of the Indian Talent Olympiad.For the president’s position, Chris Jenkins (Wales) and Kereyn Smith (New Zealand) are the two vying candidates.

PARIS,Aug 30: France forward Randal Kolo Muani refused to train with Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday and is pushing for a transfer, the German Bundesliga club said Wednesday.Reports in French media said Wednesday that Kolo Muani is already in Paris ahead of a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain, which is reshaping its attack after losing Lionel Messi to Inter Miami and selling Neymar to Al Hilal in the cash-rich Saudi Pro League. Kolo Muani told broadcaster Sky in Germany on Tuesday that he wants a move to PSG. After joining Eintracht from Nantes, the speedy and skilful Kolo Muani impressed last season.
