Training prog on fish farming

SHILLONG, Aug 30: For the benefit of farmers of Ri-Bhoi, a daylong programme on ‘Integrated Fish Farming System’ with special reference to backyard poultry farming was organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ri-Bhoi on Saturday.
Around 30 farmers were present at the event.
Subject Matter Specialist, Fishery Science, Bankitkupar Mukhim gave an elaborate and thorough lecture on how to make the most out of integrated fish farming by incorporating different kinds of livestock and crop, with fisheries which will minimise the cost of production and maximise the profit.
The farmers were trained on how to manage fish ponds, especially during the time when fish diseases occur.
During the programme, as many as 600 numbers of improved poultry breed Vanaraja along with 10 numbers of Lumsniang piglets were distributed to the farmers.
