Sankar Dev College celebrates ‘Graduation Day’

SHILLONG, Sep 3: As part of the commemoration of its 61st Foundation Day on Saturday, Sankardev College organised the Graduation Day celebration for the degree students who passed out from the college.
Rajya Sabha member WR Kharlukhi was the chief guest of the occasion.
The chief guest presented the Academic Award of Excellence to Hari Lanong, who secured 3rd position in Statistics, and Kmenshisha Thongni, 5th position holder in Khasi in the recently declared results to NEHU UG examinations.
Kharlukhi also felicitated the teaching faculty and non-teaching staff to honour their 25 years of dedicated service to the college. Those feted include Dr Kashinath Chakraborty of the Bengali Department, besides non-teaching staff S Synrem, M Thapa and Bishnu Sharma.
A book titled ‘Major Environmental Issues in North East India’ edited by the faculty of the Department of Botany and Environmental Science was also released by the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Kharlukhi lauded the initiatives of the institution and its progress, both in terms of quality and quantity, as well as the tireless efforts put in by the teachers.
A total of 155 students from BA and BSc batches were presented with citations.
The Principal of the College, Dr Eureka FP Lyngdoh, delivered the welcome address which was followed by a motivational lecture for the students from Dr S Maxwell Lyngdoh.
