SHILLONG, Sep 3: The five-day autumn session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from September 15 is set to be a stormy one with the opposition camp gearing itself to corner the MDA 2.0 Government on a host of issues, topmost among them being the impasse over the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the recurring interstate border skirmishes.
Opposition Leader, Ronnie V Lyngdoh told The Shillong Times on Sunday that the Congress will meet on Tuesday to discuss and list the issues to be raised in the House over the course of five days.
The State TMC is also scheduled to huddle up to finalise their list of subjects to be taken up for discussion in the Assembly.
TMC state chief, Charles Pyngrope said the NEP will be one of the issues that the party would take up for discussion, although he admitted that it was a good policy.
The VPP, on the other hand, is preparing to take on the government on issues ranging from poverty to law and order, education, and issues related to livelihood, price rise, farmers’ woes, and drugs,” VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh said.
The five-day session will begin on September 15 and continue till September 22. Three days have been reserved for government businesses while two days have been allotted for private member’s businesses.
