Illicit liquor
The Excise department of East Khasi Hills conducted raids in restaurants and stalls in the town and its outskirts in July and seized 31.95 litres of illicitly distilled liquor and 39.63 litres of IMFL. Nine persons were arrested under Excise Act.

 

Hindi Diwas
Meghalaya Hindi Prachar Parishad will celebrate Hindi Diwas on September 14 at the Ruprekha Parishad Secondary School.

 

Championship
The Meghalaya Body Builders Association along with Meghalaya Yoga Association will organise the 47th State Body Building Championship and 42nd State Yogasana Championship at Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture on September 30.

 

Death anniv
Sankardev Cultural Centre will organise the annual death anniversary of Shri Manta Sankardev on September 16 at Sankardev Namghar. A Satrya Cultural Programme will also be held at the Deva Kumar Hall from 5 pm on September 15 in which a Satrya cultural troupe from Guwahati will perform. A ‘Bhoana’ will also be performed on the Namghar premises on September 16 at 7 pm.

 

Meeting
The District Task Force under Intensified Mission Indradanush (IMI) on Tuesday organised a meeting with Health and other allied departments at Circuit House, Mawkyrwat, in South West Khasi Hills, with a view to reduce Infant Mortality Rate by improving immunisation coverage of children between 0-5 years and pregnant mothers under IMI 5.0 Round 2, which will commence from September 11 to 15.
