Shillong, September 15: A fire incident occurred in a coach of the Dahod-Anand MEMU train at Jakot station in Gujarat’s Dahod district, causing panic among passengers.

As per IANS, the MEMU train, designed for short and medium-distance routes, was on its way to Godhra when the fire broke out. Senior railway officials and Dahod Assistant Superintendent of Police K Sidhant were on-site to manage the situation.

ASP Sidhant reported that the fire was confined to the last compartment of the MEMU train, preventing it from spreading to other coaches.

Passengers were evacuated to ensure their safety due to the sudden outbreak of fire, which generated billowing smoke visible from a distance.

Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries, thanks to the swift response of firefighters who played a crucial role in controlling the blaze.
