BJP’s Bernard may contest LS polls from Tura if asked

SHILLONG, Oct 3: BJP vice president Bernard Marak is open to contest Lok Sabha elections from the party if the leadership wishes him to.
Bernard said this on Tuesday when asked if the saffron party can dethrone the Sangma family’s stronghold in Tura parliamentary seat.
It may be mentioned that the Sangma family has been winning Lok Sabha elections from Tura for several terms and none except Deborah Marak even came close to defeat present Tura MP, Agatha Sangma in the parliamentary polls.
Making it clear that he is not projecting himself as an aspiring candidate for Tura seat, Marak, however, added that he may contest the polls if the party wants him to.
He added that there are several eligible leaders in the BJP, and the best candidate shall be fielded to vie for the seat.
