SHILLONG, Oct 7: The East Khasi Hills district administration has directed all Durga Puja Committees (DPCs) to submit a list of migrant labourers/workers coming from outside the state for decoration/erection of pandals/lighting and drum-beaters along with their EPIC/Aadhaar cards before the Deputy Commissioner latest by October 9.
The list of local vendors/labourers, priests, assistant priests is not required.
A three-member delegation of Central Puja Committee (CPC), Meghalaya recently met DC, RM Kurbah and apprised her of the resolution adopted in the CPC’s emergent extended executive committee meeting.
The DC clarified that Section 144 of CrPC was imposed from State Central Library to CS point on September 25 to tackle the ongoing law and order problem in the city and that it has nothing to do with the Immersion Day on October 24.
The administration said four senior and responsible members/officials of the CPC/DPC would be allowed to escort the immersion procession on foot from State Central Library to CS point.
As requested by the CPC, the DC would issue a separate order permitting all Nepali DPCs to take-out Phoolpati Yatra on October 21 and Maha Kalratri Puja at midnight on October 22.
