Shillong, October 10: Elon Musk’s platform, X, announced on Tuesday that it has taken action to remove newly-created Hamas-affiliated accounts and has purged tens of thousands of posts containing graphic media, violent speech, and hateful conduct in response to the ongoing Israel-Hamas violence.

As per IANS, this comes as X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, canceled her appearance at a key tech conference scheduled for next week.

X also stated that it is actively monitoring for antisemitic speech and has removed several hundred accounts attempting to manipulate trending topics. The platform has introduced Community Notes on posts, and new accounts are being continuously enrolled in real-time to suggest and rate notes, enhancing content moderation.

The conflict has led to an increase in daily active users on the platform, with more than 50 million posts worldwide discussing the recent terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas. In response to the rapidly unfolding events, a cross-company leadership group within X has deemed it a crisis requiring a high-level response.

X pledged to keep its community informed about the actions it is taking regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Meanwhile, Linda Yaccarino has decided not to participate in the Wall Street Journal’s Tech Live conference next week. X explained that her decision is a result of the “global crisis” unfolding, referring to the violence in Israel that has led to the dissemination of disturbing videos on the platform.
