SHILLONG, Oct 10: In an effort to take well-being to human circles in society, AVENUES on World Mental Health Day launched ‘Communities for Well-Being’ at a function held here on Tuesday.
‘Communities for Well-Being’ is an AVENUES initiative whose vision is to create a model framework of excellence for safe spaces that nurture authentic human conversations around mental health in communities, through stakeholder-driven well-being experiences for teams, youth, educators, and parents.
As a social enterprise, AVENUES has been nurturing personal excellence across Meghalaya and northeast India since 2003.
In commemoration of its 20th year, the organisation is renewing its commitment to drive maximum human impact – at work, in their personal journeys and as members of society, leveraging the World Mental Health Day observance as the premise for driving a human movement for conversations around mental health in communities, starting with its own team.
AVENUES commenced the day with a morning of team building sessions that included icebreakers, expressive art, dance and movement, moments of reflection and safe spaces for sharing.
The highlight of the day was a panel discussion on the theme ‘Embracing Well-being and Shared Values in Teams’ led by AVENUES founder & CEO, Mark Laitflang Stone.
Earlier this year, AVENUES launched the APEX framework that delivers scientific thinking, communication and wellbeing interventions for young adults in campuses.
The Teaching for Tomorrow (TFT) is an initiative whose workshops help teachers improve their facilitation skills and nurture well-being in classrooms.
The organisation also seeks to leverage an ecosystem of nurses and well-being practitioners from the team and community to run clinics and boot camps for parents and mothers.
