Court convicts man in WJH for sexual assault of minor

JOWAI, Oct 12: Closing a case from 2019, the court of Special Judge (POCSO) West Jaintia Hills district convicted one Lucky Dhar for the sexual assault perpetrated on a minor child. The court sentenced Dhar to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000.
It may be mentioned that an FIR was lodged in connection with this case on April 3, 2019, with Amlarem Police Station, which stated that on March 31, 2019, one Lucky Dhar had attempted to rape the 10-year-old daughter of the complainant.
The prosecutrix (victim girl) was sleeping and the accused tried to molest her by touching her body waking up the girl from her sleep, the FIR stated.
On learning about the incident, the complainant approached the headman and was later advised to forward the matter to the police.
A POCSO case was subsequently registered at Amlarem Police Station against the accused.
WPSI I Nongrum was endorsed to investigate the case and was later re-endorsed to WP Inspector PE Marwein to complete the investigation.
On completion of the investigation, Marwein filed the charge sheet against Dhar for sexually assaulting a minor child.
