Shillong, October 15: Online food delivery platform Swiggy witnessed a biryani ordering frenzy during the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup match between India and Pakistan.

With millions of viewers glued to their screens, Swiggy saw a remarkable surge in biryani orders, averaging 250 per minute since the match’s start.

As per IANS, a household in Chandigarh placed a staggering order for 70 biryanis, seemingly in celebration of the cricket action. In addition to the biryani craze, Indian cricket enthusiasts also requested over 1 lakh cold drinks during the match.

Swiggy reported, “10,916 and 8,504 units of blue lay’s (chips) and green lay’s were ordered respectively today. Of course, blue is winning here as well.”

Adding a touch of humor, the company stated, “3,509 condoms ordered, some players are playing off the pitch today.”

In the match, India successfully bowled out Pakistan for just 191, securing a seven-wicket victory in the highly-anticipated encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The game witnessed a dramatic shift in momentum, as Pakistan, cruising at 155-2, lost eight wickets for only 36 runs in their next 13 overs.

This collapse led to a total of 191 runs in 42.5 overs, with not a single six hit in the innings, prompting Nasser Hussain to remark, “a collapse only Pakistan team can manufacture.”
