Shillong, October 19: India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, has incurred multiple fines from Pune’s traffic police for exceeding speed limits on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, as reported by the Pune Mirror.

This incident occurred just a day before India’s crucial encounter with Bangladesh in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

As per information from the Pune Mirror, Rohit received three traffic citations for surpassing the speed limits on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, as confirmed by traffic department officials. Sharma was on his way to Pune to rejoin his team ahead of their World Cup match at the MCA Stadium.

Rohit’s vehicle was observed traveling at astonishing speeds, exceeding 200 kmph and even touching 215 kmph at times. In response to this incident, three online traffic fines were issued against his car.

Of particular note, the car Rohit was driving, a Lamborghini Urus, sported a number plate showcasing his highest score in one-day cricket, which is 264.

In the World Cup 2023, Rohit has emerged as a standout performer, leading India to victory in all three of their matches, igniting hopes of a home-grown title win. In this campaign, Rohit has amassed 217 runs in three matches, maintaining an impressive average of over 72 and a striking strike rate of 141.83.

Rohit’s century in the tournament marked a significant milestone, making it his 31st ODI hundred and elevating him to the third spot in the list of total ODI centuries, surpassing Ricky Ponting. Only Kohli (47) and Tendulkar (49) remain ahead of Rohit after this accomplishment.

He is all set to continue leading the team against Bangladesh, as the Men in Blue aim to extend their flawless streak in the 2023 World Cup. India currently holds the second position in the points table, trailing only New Zealand.
